Great description of buidling a Home Theater PC. Very nicely explained, with plenty of detail. I’m thinking of doing the same, so it’s good to see some info, esp. on the Ubuntu tweaking side of things (as I don’t use Ubuntu much). My biggest changes to his equipment list would be to go with a small solid state drive and a much cheaper enclosure. My HTPC won’t need to save much of its own date - I’ll probably get a big drive and either put it in a networked computer or its own enclosure. And nearly $200 for the case is just over the top, when perfectly reasonable alternatives can be had for about $50.
